Our Opinion
Our visit to Roker Pier and Lighthouse was nothing short of enchanting, leaving us with cherished memories and a newfound appreciation for Sunderland’s maritime heritage. Standing tall and proud at the inception of Sunderland docks, the lighthouse is a testament to both its historical significance and architectural grandeur. A leisurely stroll out to the lighthouse rewarded us with panoramic views of the North Sea, where the waves danced in rhythmic harmony. The local cafes, with their inviting aromas and warm ambiance, offered the perfect respite after our explorations. What’s more, the proximity of the docks allowed us to seamlessly extend our adventure into the heart of Sunderland itself, following the picturesque waterfront. Remarkably, all of this came at an incredibly reasonable cost of just £3 for a day’s parking. Without a doubt, Roker Pier and Lighthouse have secured a spot on our list of must-see destinations for anyone visiting the Sunderland area.
